Leadership Training for community Leaders was conducted by Praja Abhilasha Network

Praja Abhilasha Network conducted a two days residential Leadership training workshop for the community leaders on 29th and 30th January 2015 at the NFP training Centre in Negombo. 35 participants were present from different district. Leaders from Sampoor,Panama,Irudeniyaya,Valigamam north, Mullikkulam, Pallimunai, Kalpitiya, Negombo, Monaragala, Matara, Galle, Badulla, Pasikuda-Batticaloa and Polannaruwa took part in the workshop and built up a coalition to work as network in future campaign. Mr.Jagath Liyanaraichchi (Lawyer ) , Mr.Herman Kumara,  Mr.Priyankara Costa and Mr.Thilak Kariyawasam have taken part as a resource person. 

Advocacy program on VGGT,SSF and Land grabbing issue held on 29th Aug 2014 in Puttalam District

Praja Abhilasha (PA) and NAFSO has conducted an awareness meeting on VGGT guideline and SSF Guideline which is published by Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO). Mr.Francis Raajan -The coordinator of Praja Abhilasha Network explained about the VGGTguideline of FAO and its importance to the participants in Puttalam District at Makulpotha. Further , Praja Abhilasha coordinator talked about the importance for the change.Mr. Nalaka Rosairo explained about the importance of the SSF and NAFSO's involvement.  It is time for a reform change so the people should come forward for a better change. herewith He request the people to join hand with the Network for the change.

Awaressness Program on VGGT and SSF were conducted in Kurunegala District on 25th Aug 2014

Conducted LLRC Awareness workshop in Kurunegala

PA and NAFSO has given a awareness on LLRC recommendation to the people in Kuruynegala district. During the program the participants says that they haven't heard about the Recommendations of LLRC and the process , first time we they were heard. most recommendations are very important to implement to ensure the Human rights of the people as well as the land rights. further participants says that they are going to insist the government to implement the recommendation in order to protect the democracy as well as their land. according to the LLRC recommendation, The National Land Policy Commission should be formed to solve the land issues as well as to handle the land use in a proper manner. Mr.Roy Rodrigo was taken part as a Resource person.

Mobilizing Palamunai People for the Signature Campaign.

Praja Abhilasha Network mobilized the Palamunai people regarding the Signature campaign.the meeting was arranged by the District Fisheries Solidarity (DIFSO), Most of the participants were Muslims, even if they were fasting during this time, they have taken part at the meeting. Sugala Kumarie, Sunil Ranasinghe, Sasikaran and Local Coordinator of Praja Abhilasha have visited to take part at the meeting. Local coordinator have explained the current situation of land issues in Sri Lanka ,and why we are doing this campaign.
